very nice! . . but almost four stars . . . Dec 19, 2009

Yes . . very nice - but almost four stars - is how I would rate this set. The items arrived in good time; less than a week, and in time for christmas. In the ad the items appear rather smallish, which is how most similar one-size-fits-all knit items, gloves especially, do appear anyway. This can be deceiving. I was a bit worried, as my mother is not a small woman. but when they arrived, I tried the gloves on and they fit me fine. Relief. One of the nice things about this set is the cable knit detail on all the pieces, which ties them together and adds a nice feminine touch. Just what I was looking for. I looked at all the comparable cashmere sets, including on ebay, and went with this one; other items from Cashmere Boutique are well rated, and the price was the most reasonable around for a decent new cashmere h/s/g set, except for maybe something I could've picked up at Target, and I was pretty sure this would be a better pick by far. The hat has a double thick folded brim with a ribbed weave, and the gloves come with a double folded ribbed wrist which is quite attractive, good for extra warmth, and just makes it seem like you're getting some extra cashmere for your money, which I really like. That was one of the main reasons I went with this set. Most all the other sets I saw at this price range didn't have this nice detail. The one small thing - the reason I almost gave this set four stars - is that the cashmere is a tad thin. This is certainly not surprising at this price point, as I did see sets going for $200 and up, the Made in Italy kind of stuff; these are from China. If I had paid that kind of money, I surely would've given a bit less in the star department. The actual cashmere in these items is very nice and soft to the touch; I have seen and felt bad chinese cashmere before, and this is not that. Anyway, 'a tad thin' does not really bother me, as most cashmere is to give one a sense of plushness, softness, comfort, and luxury - which this set does - not necessarily for serious winter warmth. For that we usually turn to fleece type products. Overall, this is a great, well made set that I do recommend to anyone who isn't trying to break the bank. Next year I will get another set in a different color.
